Building a home with KB Home follows a structured, personalized process designed to give buyers control, transparency, and support from start to finish. It begins with choosing a community, floor plan, and homesite that fits your needs and budget. Once you sign a purchase agreement, you’ll personalize your home at the KB Home Design Studio, selecting finishes, fixtures, and upgrades. Financing is coordinated (often with KBHS Home Loans), and construction begins with regular progress updates. Throughout the build, you’ll have key milestones and walk-throughs to ensure quality and alignment with your expectations. As completion nears, you’ll conduct a final walk-through before closing, where you officially take ownership. After move-in, KB Home provides warranty coverage and customer care support. The process emphasizes choice, communication, and peace of mind, helping buyers create a home tailored to their lifestyle while guiding them through each step with expert support.

How do I get started building a home with KB Home?

You start by choosing a community, floor plan, and homesite that match your lifestyle and budget. A sales counselor helps guide you through initial decisions and pricing.

  • Finding a community you're interested in and going to the sales office is the first step. During this visit, you'll meet with a KB sales counselor who will spend time learning about your unique wants and needs, so they can help you select a new home that's just right for your lifestyle and budget.
  • Tour the model homes together, so you can explore every living space from the bedrooms to the kitchen. 
  • Take a look at the available homesites — yep, you get to choose where in the community you want to live. 
  • Once you finalize your homesite, the sales counselor will help you select a favorite floor plan and exterior style. They will also explain the different layout options available, which allow you to make structural changes (like adding a kitchen island or extra windows) before building starts. 

Think of your KB sales counselor as your go-to for all home-related questions, and that includes local schools, shopping and other neighborhood tips. Plus, they can connect you with the loan experts at KBHS Home Loans® to help secure your financing.

Can I personalize my home?

We also want this experience to be easy and enjoyable, so your design consultant will be there to guide you to the best selections for your personal style and budget.

How am I kept informed during construction?

KB Home provides regular updates and key milestone check-ins, so you can track progress and stay informed throughout the build.

Will I see my home before it’s finished?

Yes. You’ll typically have scheduled walk-throughs during construction and a final walk-through before closing to review the completed home.

What happens at closing?

At closing, you complete the paperwork, finalize financing, and receive the keys to your new home.

Is there support after I move in?
