Communications Hill - San Jose, CA Update

As part of our weekly testing with the City of San Jose, data from the P3, P4 & P5 onsite air monitors recorded several exceedances above the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) guidelines during the week of October 21st. Site dust mitigation activities are a high priority and on-site monitoring and corrective mitigation efforts have been effective in reducing sources of dust. Potential contributors to the recorded dust exceedances last week that are outside our control include public utilities work near the P3 monitor, weekly HOA maintenance near the P4 monitor, and quarry operations near the P5 monitor. Paving work on Communications Boulevard began this week and may also have contributed to the exceedances on that day, because San Jose Public Works restricted watering during base layer application. This is to ensure appropriate asphalt stability and density. Additional water can be used on subsequent layers and paving activities.
