2. Make a list
Knowing what you want before you take your tour can be helpful. Be prepared with a list of things you’d like, and things that are deal breakers. With your list handy, you can ask yourself questions as you explore each room: Is there enough storage space? Are there enough bedrooms for a growing family and potential guests? This will help you stay focused and ensure that you’ll make the right selections for your lifestyle.
3. Take notes and pictures
Keep in mind that this is a model home, decorated to help you envision what yours might look like. So there could be some design elements you love, and some that you might not include in your own home. As you explore, jot down things you’ll want to remember to help inspire your own home. 4. Ask questions
There are sure to be questions that pop up as you look around—this is your future home we’re talking about. Your sales counselor is there to help you and make you feel comfortable, so don’t be afraid to ask away. They can assist you in getting a sense of the size, style, and design needs for your new home. They’ll also help you select your preferred homesite, floor plan, and exterior architectural style.
5. Have fun!
While this can be an overwhelming process, don’t forget that this is also one of the most exciting experiences of your life. This is your home in the making—your chance to imagine your future coming to life. So let loose and let your creative side shine.
6. Go for a drive
Lastly, remember that your neighborhood is just as important as the home you build. Go for a stroll or take a drive around the area to get a feel for the community. Check out community amenities and research local highlights. Explore nearby trails for hiking, shopping malls, supermarkets, and freeways surrounding your new home. This will be your future neighborhood, so get to know it as best you can.
