Communications Hill - San Jose, CA Update

As part of KB Home’s ongoing partnership with the City of San Jose, data from the eleven on site air monitors recorded eight exceedances of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District guidelines during the week of August 18, 2025.

 

August 18: Exceedances occurred at stations 4 and 11, likely due to the application of hydromulch and excavation operations upwind of the station 4. However, there was no earth moving operations occurring near station 11 on this day. Contractors were made the aware of the exceedances and additional hydro mulch and water was added.

 

August 19: An exceedance occurred at station 2, likely due to grading operations upwind and near the station. Contractors were made aware of the exceedance and slower work practices were initiated and more frequent watering in the area was implemented.

 

August 20: Exceedances occurred at stations 9 and 11, likely due to the elevated temperatures and winds over undisturbed hillsides and traffic near the station. No earth moving operations occurred near either station on this day.

 

August 21: An exceedance occurred at station 8, likely due to high traffic and track out controls requiring cleaning. Contractors were made aware of the exceedance and new rock was installed for track out prevention.

 

August 22: Exceedances occurred at stations 2 and 8, likely due to grading operations upwind of the stations 2 and the cleaning track out controls by station 8. Contractors were made the aware of the exceedances and additional water was added.
