As part of KB Home’s ongoing partnership with the City of San Jose, data from the eleven on site air monitors recorded ten exceedances of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District guidelines during the week of May 19, 2025.
May 19: Exceedances occurred at stations 5, 10, and 11, likely due to high winds over hard to access disturbed hillsides that are upwind of and near these stations. Contractors were made aware of these three exceedances and additional water was added throughout these areas with water additives. Grading work was suspended at 2pm due to high winds.
May 20: An exceedance occurred at station 5, likely due to winds over disturbed hillsides and near grading operations upwind of this station. Grading contractors were made aware of the exceedances and additional water was added throughout the site and around grading operations.
May 21: Exceedances occurred at station 5 and station 6, likely due to high winds and grading operations occurring near and upwind of these stations. Grading contractors were made aware of the exceedance and additional water was added throughout the site.
May 22: Exceedances occurred at station 3, 5 and 6, likely due to high winds and grading operations occurring near and upwind of these stations. Grading contractors were made aware of the exceedances and additional water in the form of sprinklers will be added around grading operations and disturbed hillsides that are difficult to water regularly. Grading work was suspended for two hours to focus on adding additional water to the affected areas. Materials for the temporary sprinkler system was also ordered with an anticipated delivery date of 5/28/25. Grading work was suspended at 3pm due to high winds.
May 23: An exceedance occurred at station 5, likely due to winds over disturbed hillsides and grading operations occurring upwind of this station. Grading contractors were made aware of the exceedances and additional water was added throughout the site and around grading operations. Sprinklers are scheduled to be installed by 5/30/25.
