Welcome to Bastrop

Beautiful Bastrop is located just 30 miles southeast of Austin, with the Colorado River flowing through a portion of the city. This self-proclaimed "most historic small town in Texas" earned its title with over 130 national historic sites, including the 1923 Colorado River Bridge and the 1889 Bastrop Opera House. The Bastrop Museum and Visitor's Center offers visitors a complete list of historic sites, plus artifacts from over 200 years of local history. When you're in the mood for outdoor recreation, you can log in some quality tee time at any one of the city's three great golf courses. Additional highlights include:

  • Bastrop State Park. This gorgeous site stretches nearly 6,000 acres across the city's eastern border and offers canoeing, swimming, golfing, wildlife viewing, and hiking. Historic cabins from the 1930s are also available to rent.
  • Hero Water Sports. Splash around at the only inflatable water park in Texas. This seasonal site is not open year-round so check the website for available dates.
