Since ENERGY STAR appliances are approximately 15% more efficient than standard appliances, that means you'll be reducing your carbon footprint and your utility bills at the same time.

There are six defining features to an ENERGY STAR qualified home:

KB Home has built more than 44,000 ENERGY STAR qualified homes in the last six years, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 116,000 metric tons annually—the equivalent to removing more than 21,000 cars from our roads each year.

More than 85% of the total energy consumption during the entire lifetime of a home, including its construction, stems from the energy used by the people who live in it, according to a study published in the Journal of Industrial Ecology.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, new home construction compliant with today's standard building and energy codes produces homes that are up to 30% more energy efficient than homes built as recently as the 1990s. If the home is fully ENERGY STAR qualified, the savings can be as much as 45%.
