CENTRAL FLORIDA EUROCARS RED, WHITE & KABOOM KICKS OFF INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
As part of the celebration for Independence Day, Central Florida Eurocars and the City of Lakeland will host Red, White & Kaboom on Thursday, July 3, 2008 with live music and a dazzling fireworks display over Lake Mirror as the highlight of the evening.


No Solid Waste or Recycling Pick-Up Friday
There will be no garbage or recycling collection on Friday, July 4th. Friday’s routes will be serviced on Saturday, July 5th. Containers should be placed to the curb after 6pm Friday or before 6am Saturday.

Housing Rehabilitation Assistance
The City of Lakeland Neighborhood Services Division Housing Section is offering housing rehabilitation of single-family, owner-occupied homes within the City limits of Lakeland. Households must be low to moderate-income and must meet program guidelines. An informational workshop will be provided to explain the application process and program guidelines. This public workshop will be held July 14, 2008 at 6:30 pm at the Lakeland Public Library, 100 Lake Morton Drive. For more information www.lakelandgov.net/commdev/housing/

The City of Lakeland scores very well in a comparative cost for services that measures a typical household’s annual expenditures in the areas of taxes and utility bills. This chart indicates the average home in each of the listed communities and what it cost that household in the areas of property taxes and utilities.

Other Property Tax includes county taxes, school board taxes and other taxes that are assessed each year on a home.Municipal Property Tax includes the ad valorem property tax assessed by each listed City.

Utilities include all applicable utilities such as electric, water, waste-water and garbage collection.
