Need to know more about smart watering?  Georgia EPD has info available at http://www.gaepd.org/Files_PDF/outdoor_watering_faq.pdf

Get “Legal” Outdoor Water from Rain Barrels!
It’s not a new idea: rain barrels!  We’re hearing a lot about them lately due to the drought conditions we are experiencing.  For generations rainwater has been collected as a way to water gardens and accommodate other household necessities.  By collecting rain water, rain barrels also help reduce erosion and storm water runoff and increase water quality.  If you prefer to purchase a rain barrel, you might want to check out these websites:
• Aaron’s RainBarrels at www.ne-design.net
• Gardener’s Supply at www.gardeners.com
• Watersavers at www.watersavers.com
• Rain Barrels in Georgia at www.rainbarrelsingeorgia.com

Where can you dispose of/recycle compact florescent light bulbs?
These bulbs contain mercury, so you should not put them in your garbage or in your curbside bin. Ikea will accept them.

Keep Smyrna Beautiful has new Pocket Ashtrays!

Pocket Ashtrays are hand-held portable ashtrays which give smokers the opportunity to properly dispose of their cigarettes.  The ashtrays are small, attractive, and made to last. Keep Smyrna Beautiful has them available at their office at the Smyrna Community Center for $1 (their replacement cost).
Many smokers may not realize the harmful effects of dropping cigarette butts. The butts do not decompose, and carry harmful toxins into the environment. Cigarette butts are also a fire hazard, as they can re-ignite and cause fires.
