Other Stories and News Updates
Wednesday, May 28, 2008
Beginning June 2, 2008, the BNSF Railway Company will be resurfacing the train tracks at the Orangethorpe Avenue crossing, just west of Tustin/Rose. The construction, which is scheduled to take approximately a week to complete, will result in the temporary closure of Orangethorpe Avenue between Chapman Avenue and Miller Street. During construction, train horns will be sounded at this crossing to ensure the safety of BNSF workers along the tracks.
The City will be placing sign boards along Orangethorpe Avenue one week in advance to notify commuters about the closure and which alternate routes may be used during construction. Commuters that use Orangethorpe Avenue should consider taking Crowther Avenue, Chapman Avenue, Alta Vista Street, or Miraloma Avenue.
For additional information, please contact the City of Placentia, Public Works Department, at (714) 993-8245.

CAL-TRANS AUDIT UPDATE
Thursday, April 17, 2008
As previously reported the City has been dealing with a disallowance from Cal-Trans on $36.2 million in grant funding to pay for the Orangethorpe Corridor railroad related projects. On Monday April 14, 2008 Finance Director Terrence Beaman met with Cal-Trans officials in Sacramento in regards to the current on-going Cal-Trans audit of the City of Placentia. Mr. Beaman informed the City Council on April 15, 2008 that the Finance Department has been able to account for the entire $8.2 million in federal money and 94% of State funds, or $26 million. Approximately 96% of the entire $36.2 million has been reconciled to our accounting system. The remaining 4% are State funded items that are less than $25,000 which consist of over a thousand transactions. City Staff feel confident that should Cal-Trans request we provide documentation at the lower amount, City Staff would, in time, be able to provide that documentation. More...
